Métis Nation British Columbia is going to the Rodeo!

MNBC Showcases Art and Culture at Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair, May 18-20, 2013.
Abbotsford, BC [April 18, 2013] – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is pleased to invite you to attend this Metis Cultural Display and Performance.

Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is excited to announce they will be proudly showcasing Métis arts and culture through various performances and displays in the Aboriginal Gathering Place at the Cloverdale Rodeo May 18th through to the 20th. MNBC will showcase Métis Jiggers and Dancers with featured performances by Jigging Instructor and Métis Artisan Lisa Shepherd, President of the Golden Ears Métis Society (GEMS). British Columbia Métis Assembly of Natural Resources (BCMANR) will be on hand to provide valuable information on Métis harvesting and registration, and Métis history will be on exhibit as well.

Daniel Pitman, Minister of Culture, Language and Heritage states, “This will be a fantastic opportunity to educate people about our unique culture and presence. “Since the recent court decisions, more people are interested in learning about whom the Métis are and what makes us a distinct culture.”

Michelle Lavergne, Lower Mainland Regional Director, stated, “This will be a great occasion to teach people about Métis culture and share some insight into our traditions. It will be a great opportunity to show our youth, and others,why we are so proud to be Métis”.

The Métis exhibit will take place in the Shannon Hall on the Country Fairgrounds. Métis Nation British Columbia will
have scheduled performances Saturday through Monday (May 18th-20th) and exhibit tables on display throughout the entire Fair (May 17th-20th).There will be many Aboriginal performances and displays in Shannon Hall. The event will be a great opportunity to learn about the distinct and diverse Aboriginal cultures and traditions in BC. The Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair will be celebrating its 67th year of world-class rodeo action and 125th year of family fun entertainment. It is a well-known favorite and a fun-filled way to spend the May long weekend.
