Call out for Aboriginal Community Basketball Coaches

The Partners Council in Partnership with Basketball BC requires dynamic individuals to undertake training as Learning Facilitators (LF’s) for the NCCP Basketball FUNdamentals (focus age 6-9) and Learn to Train (focus age 9-12) coach training programs.

We encourage all motivated Coaches/ Educators with previous Basketball related experience in Aboriginal Communities to apply. Applicants should possess: good verbal communication and organizational skills, have a good understanding of the sport of Basketball, enthusiasm and commitment to help develop the skills and competencies of community based basketball coaches.

Accepted applicants will be employed on an intermittent contract basis to facilitate future Coaching Programs for the Partners Council and Basketball BC.

Process:
• Accepted applicants are required to attend both days of training on September 28 & 29th, 2013 in Vancouver BC. Travel, per diem and accommodation will be provided for accepted applicants.

• Future compensation for course delivery will be provided at a competitive rate ($200-300/ day). Applicants must be available to instruct mainly weekends on a semi-regular basis.

• Please attach a cover letter (125 words or less) outlining your background working with Aboriginal kids or youth. Experience teaching or coaching sport or physical activity should be outlined. Please attach a resume with 2 references, including contact information.

2013 BC ABORIGINAL SOFTBALL CAMPS

August 24, 2013 Surrey, BC

September 7, 2013 Prince George, BC

September 14, 2013 Westbank, BC

These camps will serve as the Athlete Selection Camps to compete with Team BC in the 2014 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) held July 20-27, 2014 Re gina, SK. Interested athletes to attend ONE of above camps.

Team BC is seeking up to 14 athletes for each of for each of for each of male and female teams in the following divisions:

• U19 (must be born in the year 1995 to 1997

• U16 (must be born in the year 1998 to 2000

Pre-registration required (deadline Thursday,August 15th ). . . $20/person. In. Includes souvenir souvenir, camp T-shirt and lunchbag

Hosted in partnership with Softball BC, Semiahmoo First Nation, Prince George Native Friendship Centre, and and Westbank First Nation
