The BC Games Society is seeking enthusiastic, experienced people to serve as volunteer Team BC Mission Staff members for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. As part of Team BC, Mission Staff will lead in helping BC’s athletes have the experience of a lifetime at this premier multi-sport event. The 2015 Western Canada Summer Games will be held in Wood Buffalo, Alberta from August 7th to 15th, 2015 and bring together approximately 2,300 athletes, coaches, managers, and officials from four provinces and three territories for ten days of high calibre multi-sport competition.

The Mission team works to ensure that all aspects of Team BC’s preparation, including athlete and coach services and support (uniforms, media relations, newsletter, registration, logistics, etc) are in place for successful team performances. This is an opportunity to play a key role in BC’s sport development system. Team BC is seeking individuals who possess strong communication and administration skills; thorough knowledge of BC’s amateur sport system; interest in and enthusiasm for working in a fast paced multi-sport environment; ability to operate independently and in a team atmosphere; ability to perform functions and duties outside of your assignment; strong interpersonal skills and an ability to provide excellent service to the assigned sports. As well, the ideal candidate will have extensive and varied experience as a volunteer, athlete or coach at a multi-sport Games and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Games movement.

TOM Congratulates NAIG Athlete Shaughn Davoren

Shaughn Davoren (17), Regional Youth Representative for the Thompson/Okanagan placed 5th in his division, at his first Provincial Small Bore Competition in Campbell River this past weekend. His family and friends are all extremely proud of his performance and his dedication to the sport. We all wish him well as he trains as a part of Team BC at the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG 2014) in Regina, Saskatchewan this July.


Métis Summer Rendezvous

Falkland Stampede Grounds; 5811, HWY 91, Falkland BC (30min North of Vernon on HWY 97). Friday July 11th to 13th, 2014. Gates open Friday 5 pm for overnighting & set-up. Event begins: Saturday 8:00 am for Breakfast

Métis Summer Rendezvous is a one of a kind Métis Family Event hosted by the Métis Elders for New Horizons in partnership with the Vernon & District Metis Association.
Breakfast will be provided on Saturday and Sunday mornings. A concession Stand will be open part time on Saturday for Lunch and snacks. Saturday Dinner is a Pot Luck so everyone please bring items for our Métis Pot Luck Feast.

We will be hosting: Traditional arts/crafts, dance, gaming stations for all ages, a Métis Museum and photo booth. Saturday will also bring the opportunity to participate in Traditional sporting events. Please remember to bring your voices and musical instruments and your moccasins, to enjoy gathering around the campfire, and to jigging the night away on the Métis made dance floor.
Tent and RV camping will be available on the Stampede Grounds and overflow parking is also available. Entrance Fees and Overnight Camping Fees may apply.
Motel accommodations are limited so remember to book well in advance.

We are still looking for Métis Partners who would like to host events during the weekend and we will have vendor tables available for a nominal fee.
