Free Coaching Clinics

Hello Interior Region,

We are pleased to present the following FREE Coaching Clinics and Leadership Development Opportunities to the communities of the Interior Region.

1. HIGH FIVE® Sport Training
HIGH FIVE® Sport: This 4.5 hour course is for coaches, instructors or volunteers providing direct leadership to children aged 6 to 12 in a competitive environment. The training is based in research and has been designed to assist coaches in handling top concerns such as dealing with parents, keeping children’s interest, ensuring fair play and creating an emotionally safe environment.

Westbank BC
Dates: Monday March 30, 2015
Location: 1900 Quail Road, Westbank First Nation

Kamloops BC
Dates: Tuesday March 31, 2015
Location: Moccasin Square Gardens, Tk’emlups te Secwepemc
Facilitator: BC Recreation and Parks Assocation

2. NCCP Softball Learn to Coach Clinic
This clinic will give you all the tools you need to hit the field with confidence as a first time children’s softball coach. Over the course of 6 hours, this in-class and on-field clinic will help you:
• Understand the needs of the children you are coaching (typically ages of 5-10);
• Equip yourself with basic tools to plan and run safe, fun, and effective practices;
• Learn how to teach fundamental movement and softball skills in a fun and inclusive way using Learn to Play program activities;
• Apply an ethical decision-making process to situations that may arise during your season.

Williams Lake Indian Band, Williams Lake BC
Dates: SATURDAY May 2, 2015 – 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Practical Experience: Sunday May 3, 2015 9:00 AM – 4:00PM
Location: Elizabeth Grouse Gymnasium and Sugar Cane Ball Park
Facilitators: Joni Frei and Michelle Webster, Softball BC and 2014 NAIG Team BC Coaches

3. NCCP Archery Instructor Beginner Coach Clinic
In this 15 hour course, you will learn how to:
• Plan a practise
• Analyze performance (5 steps)
• Support athletes in training (Safety & equipment)
• Teach a coaching session
• Manage a sports program (Facilities, safety)
• Make Ethical Decisions

Tk’emlups to Secwepemc, Kamloops BC
Dates: May 2 & 3, 2015 – 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: Moccasin Square Gardens, 345 Chief Alex Thomas Way Kamloops BC
Facilitator: Ron Ostermeier, BC Archery Association and 2014 NAIG Team BC Coach
