White Buffalo Aboriginal and Métis Health Society is a not-for-profit agency with a mandate to
support the safety and wellbeing of Urban Aboriginal and Métis children, youth and families in
accordance with the teachings and values of Aboriginal and Métis Peoples since 2003. The Society is
currently seeking individuals who share a passion and commitment to our mandate.
As an effective Director, you will uphold the By-laws of the Society oversee financial practices and
provide vision, leadership and direction to the Agency to design and lead Aboriginal and Métis
community services that best reflect the teachings, values and beliefs of Urban Aboriginal Peoples.
Desired Knowledge, Experience and Competencies:
Self-Identity as Aboriginal Ancestry and/or a demonstrated contribution to Aboriginal Peoples
wellness through initiatives.
Demonstrated commitment to the serving the best interests of Urban Aboriginal and Métis
Knowledge of a non-for-profit society and board or other related governance experience.
Knowledge in financial management and strategic planning
Knowledge in policy development and public/community leadership
Strong communication and networking skills
A high standard of personal and professional ethics
Ability to successfully pass a Criminal Records Check
Able to commit to attending monthly Board of Directors meetings and the Annual General
Willing to participate in board development and structuring as needed.
A willingness to assist with program development and fundraising efforts as needed.
