The Host Application Process has been launched for First Nations, Métis Chartered Communities, Friendship Centres, and Aboriginal organizations to apply to host event(s) within the 2016/17 series of BC Aboriginal Provincial Championships and Athlete Development Camps.
These events have been strategically established to support Aboriginal athlete development in sports featured in the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG). With the 2017 NAIG approaching, the series of 2016/17 BC Aboriginal Provincial Championships & Camps will be a primary component of the Team BC Talent Identification and/or Selection Processes for athletes to represent Team BC at the Toronto 2017 NAIG. Information regarding the specific details of the Team BC Selection processes for each sport will be released in early 2016.
Successful community hosts will be awarded a Hosting Grant to help offset the majority of the event operating costs. The Championships and Camps are to be held primarily in the Summer/Fall of 2016 in a variety of communities across British Columbia. To apply to host an event, please refer to Host Application forms (links below). More details can be found in the attached media release.
All applications must be submitted before 4:00 pm (PST), Friday, January 8th, 2016. Access the online host application forms at the following links:
