May 26, 2016 (Surrey, BC) – At the Métis Nation British Columbia Surrey Provincial Office yesterday morning MNBC Minister for Métis Children & Families Daniel Pitman and with MNBC staff welcomed BC Minister for Children & Family Development Stephanie Cadieux, BC Ministry staff members Debbie MacLean and Denise Devenney, and Métis Commission for Children & Families in BC, Executive Director Eva Cole for a meeting and brief tour.
The meetings focus was to see how MNBC, MCCFS and the Province can strengthen the working relationships between MNBC and MCFD to improve outcomes for Métis children and youth in care.
“It was a very positive and productive meeting” said Minister Pitman. “we are working very hard to make a difference in the lives of Métis children and youth in care and we feel very good about the dialogue and are confident it has improved our relationship moving forward in working in the best interest of these children and youth”.
MNBC will look forward to a follow up meeting with the province at their regular scheduled meetings with the partners of the Metis Working Table for Metis children and families and the renewal of the MOU between MCFD, MCCF and MNBC.
