2016 MNBC General Election VOTE GLEN OHS for Vice President
WORKING TO BUILD A BETTER FUTURE FOR MÉTIS
Born and raised in British Columbia, Glen was educated in
Courtenay and Kamloops before graduating from Camosun
College in Victoria BC.
Raised believing his family was Cree, Glen discovered he was
Métis only after a thorough genealogical search revealed that
he had ancestral roots tied directly to St. Francis Xavier Parish
in the Red River Settlement (Ross, Short) and Il-a-la-Crosse SK
(Malboef). Scottish and French Hudson Bay fur traders mixed
with Cree and Saulteaux blood are all part in his lineage.
A proud Métis, Glen has actively served Métis for over 16 years.
A champion and advocate for Métis rights, Glen has built solid
relationships with leaders in all levels of government and has
worked with educators and school administrators to raise
awareness of Métis culture, enhancing opportunities for Métis
students in the public school system.
Over 40 years’ experience in the energy and water utility
business with responsibilities for the strategic and annual
business planning, business development, project execution,
quality service delivery, safety, financial accountability and
people development throughout Canada.
A Senior Manager, with responsibilities for supporting all
company-wide initiatives related to Aboriginal Affairs, including
Aboriginal inclusion in business opportunities, consultation and
engagement, regulatory processes, agreement negotiation and
implementation, community development and investment,
employment and corporate reporting.
Actively involved in building capacity in aboriginal communities
through economic development for over 25 years, Glen brings
Métis issues forward as an active member of the Vancouver
Board of Trade Aboriginal Opportunities Advisory Committee.
Glen presently resides in Langley, BC with his wife of 30 years,
Elaine. Together they share in the joy of their 6 children and 15
(soon to be 16) beautiful grandchildren.
