MNBC Art Contest

NEWS RELEASE

September 15, 2016

Surrey, BC – Métis Youth British Columbia (MYBC) has extended its deadline for the Kishchee tey mo’yawn aen li Michif wi’yawn (Proud to be Metis) Métis Youth Art Contest.  This Contest highlights the amazing artistic talents of our Youth.  The Métis Youth Art Contest was designed to engage Métis Youth within the Province of BC by asking them to create an artistic or written piece which highlights why they are Proud to be Métis!

The contest is open to all Metis Youth who reside within the Province of BC and are between the ages of 15 and 30. The Métis Youth Art Contest will run from July 4th, 2016 to October 31st, 2016 and all submissions must be sent in via-email accompanied by a completed application.  We encourage all Métis Youth to participate in this exciting contest and to be as creative and expressive as possible when artistically answering the question “WHY ARE YOU PROUD TO BE MÉTIS?”  Submissions can include anything from videos, to pictures or collages, paintings, carvings, poetry or written pieces.

All submissions received will fall in to one of three categories – Media | Art | Writing – and will be evaluated by the Ministry of Youth staff in the first round. The Top 3 submissions from each category will then move to an online fan vote. The Top 3 winners selected through the vote will receive prizes: First place will receive an I-Pad Mini and a MYBC prize pack, Second place will receive a $100 Visa gift card and MYBC prize pack, and Third place will receive a $50 Visa gift card and MYBC prize pack. Winners will be announced and notified by November 14th, 2016.
