|Victoria, BC (August 23, 2017) – The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council is pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2017 Regional Leader Training Sessions (RTS), offered through the Aboriginal Healthy Living Activities (AHLA), in partnership with SportMedBC.
The RTS are offered to individuals working within, or representing an Indigenous community, who are committed to delivering a healthy living program under the Aboriginal RunWalk or Honour Your Health Challenge. The sessions are designed to bring together community leaders and individuals who are passionate about promoting health and wellness in the Indigenous community in one or all of these four key areas: increased physical activity, healthy eating, reduction of tobacco misuse, and supporting healthy pregnancies.
Workshops will be offered in Nutrition, Physical Literacy, Addictions, FitNation, Mental Wellness, Nordic Walking, a Regional Resource Panel and more! Participants will learn from experts in their respective fields, and develop the skills necessary to deliver their own community program.
At the conclusion of training, participants will become eligible to apply for up to $1000 in grant support for their Aboriginal RunWalk or Honour Your Health Challenge community program.
Registration opens on August 23rd and closes on September 15th, 2017. Registration is limited and will be filled on a “first come, first serve” basis.
