The Board of SOSMA secured Funding as part of the UPIP Funding Agreement with MNBC to enable us to engage in a ” Métis Culture Moving Forward” project on the weekend of October 19 & 20, 2019. This opportunity offers a chance to tour the “Forget-Me-Not, Métis Rose” exhibition by Métis artists Kristie Bridgeman and Lisa Shepherd at The ACT Arts Centre in Maple Ridge. Lisa Shepherd will be the tour guide as we view the Exhibition of their work on Sunday, October 20 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
The group will engage with the Golden Ears Métis Society in Maple Ridge at their Harvest Potluck and Cultural evening with Fiddle music and harvest season teachings from two of the Elders on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
The plan is to carpool leaving Penticton at 9:30 am on Saturday, staying overnight at the Ramada Inn in Pitt Meadows, and return departure following the Art Walk with Lisa Shepherd and a light lunch on Sunday. There are some funds available for gas for those who are using their vehicles and carpooling. The cost of accommodation and food is the responsibility of the participant. Sharing of accommodation is encouraged to lessen expense.
